What Is NYC Fashion Week?

The NYC Fashion week is an event that takes place twice a year, in February (Spring) and September (Fall). The Fashion show in the Spring will showcase deigns for the Fall and Winter lines for that year and the show in Fall will showcase designs for Spring and Summer, the following year. This show usually lasts for about a week, (7-9 days).

The NYC Fashion Week is one of the five major fashion events shows that take place around the world, including London, Paris, Berlin, and Milan. The event is city wide and “IMG” produces "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York". Other designers will produce their own shows separate of “IMG” on their own, but the biggest names will be part of the "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York". It is rumored that some high-end designers have decided to detach from the show that is produced by “IMG” and do their own event, but that is not certain, until we see the show.

The very first fashion organization was in New York City and was called "Press Week" that all began in 1943. The show was created for the individuals in the fashion realm during WWII, when they were unable to travel to Paris to see the fashion shows.

New York Fashion show has come a long way since 1943 and has become one of the most important shows in fashion. This week is an opportunity to have international designers introduce their lines to the United States. NYC Fashion Week is not just about international designers but as well as U.S. designers bringing out their lines for all of us to take in.

The shows are held around the city but mostly in huge magnificent white tents at the NYC's Lincoln Center, spread across many blocks of the bustling city. There are less well-known designers that have shows dispersed in different parts of the city because of budget costs and being independent of the mainstream fashion tents.

The "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York”, is almost impossible to get into and is usually invite only for celebrities, fashion editors, the press, and other fashion powerhouse elites. But, today there are so many ways to be able to experience the fashion show through technology, as most fashion shows have live feed to witness the spectacular splendor from your computer or social media.

The show that will take place starting September 4th will give us a sneak peek into the trends that will be part of Spring and Summer, 2015. We get to see month in advance what is going to “in style” and you can make your decision if this is something that you are willing to take part in or disregard as a trend. Just because, the show introduces us to fashion trends that they hope will flourish, doesn’t mean we have to be a part of it. We will get to see what trends the fashion industry is going to bring us and hopefully it is better than last year. These shows also give us a glimpse of what different hair styles, beauty styles, and accessories that will be all the rage, until it is overly mass produced and we get bored of it and move on. The case of the Ombre hair style was introduced by the fashion designer’s models.

And, there has been rumored that the “wet” hair look (Yes, it is a real thing!) will be something that will be a fashion hair style trend coming next Spring. Now, I’m not too sure about that one but it would definitely save a lot of time styling your hair. Just wash, brush and go!

Whether we realize it or not, the fashion industry tells us what we are going to be wearing that year; some take the risk and go with the new trends and some just wait it out, until everyone is doing so and of course there are others that do their own thing. I am absolutely excited to see new developments in the fashion scene and it will be here soon.

Do you usually follow and keep up-to-date with the trends that are introduced into the fashion world or do you do your own thing? Or, have you never changed your style since 2004? What are your thoughts on the fashion industry and the trends that are introduced to us?
A new post will be coming about the trends and designs for the Fall season that was introduced to us in February. Let's take a look back and see what to wear this Fall and Winter.

Can I please have the one in the middle?
